FAQ How will DEFINE.weekend be different than other conferences for teens? DEFINE.weekend is uniquely designed with 6th-12th grade teen girls in mind. Elements of the weekend include; a full-concert by a Christian artist, a nationally known girls speaker and author, fun, activity oriented experiences, small group conversations about relevant topics, follow up material, on-going connection to small group leaders, a t-shirt, back-pack, other fun take-aways, and lunch. DEFINE.weekend is not exclusively about entertainment but has as the desired outcome; LIFE CHANGE. What are the breakout topics? · Define Faith · Define Beauty · Define Purpose · Define Friendship · Define Sexuality · Define Forgiveness · Define Life: Q & A with a discussion panel with representatives from various ages and stages of life. · Define Leadership: Leadership development for 11th & 12th girls and adult women sponsors. What value and ongoing difference will DEFINE.weekend make in my Youth ministry? Free, monthly downloadable discussion guides, facebook discussion groups led by breakout leaders, ongoing connection to breakout leaders, suggested follow-up resources. Your adult women sponsors will be trained in how to begin or lead a girls’ ministry and leadership development sessions will be offered for 11th-12th grade girls addressing the ever increasing drop-out rate of teens who drop out of church after they graduate from the youth ministry. Who are the Define team members? The DEFINE.weekend team members are 8 adult women serving in leadership capacities in churches in the Denver and Colorado Springs area and 8 teen girls. Where did DEFINE originate? DEFINE.weekend originated in the heart and passion of Becky Badry. Becky is the Director of Women’s Resources for the Colorado Baptist Convention. During recent opportunities to mentor young adult women she began to notice a common thread in their lives; the life-damaging issues they are facing now are a result of decisions and choices which were made in their early teen years. God birthed a determination at that point to invest all in an event that will bring young women together to define life according to life-changing Biblical principles and train women in local church ministries to lead them. Is Define weekend for girls and women of all denominations and religions? Define weekend is an inter-denominational event and is open to girls of all denominations, faiths and religions. What are you trying to sell me? NOTHING! We are merely planning an event which will spiritually transform the lives of girls and women leaders. We will be giving, a FREE copy of the book Girls’ Ministry Handbook to every sponsor who attends a leaders breakout. A Lifeway Christian Resources Bookstore will be available should individuals choose to make purchases. What is included with the cost of registration? Included with the cost of registration is the conference, concert, t-shirt, back-pack, journal, other fun take-aways and lunch. How can I help you? You can help DEFINE.weekend be successful by: promoting in your ministry, telling your ministry buddies about the event, praying and arranging for every teen girl in your ministry to attend the DEFINE.weekend. How will you address sensitive issues? The breakouts planned for discussing sexuality and the Q & A open panel discussions will be age-graded and will be led by trained breakout leaders who will plan discussion questions that will be age appropriate. Are boys/men allowed? No. Boys and men are not allowed to attend the conference. There will be men on the property for security, maintenance, and Audio/Visual tech purposes. In addition, two men leaders will be present for the discussion panels. Are there any security issues I should know about surrounding the Riverside/downtown campus? Additional preparations will be made to secure the facility and parking areas. Additional security and parking patrol guards will be on site. Are there hotels rooms in the area?
